When can I come to the library? You are welcome to use the library before school, during lunch, and after school. During class times, you must have a signed teacher pass with your name on it. You must also sign in through the front desk laptops.
How do I check out books? Your Tomball High School student ID serves as a library card. It is helpful if you have your ID card each time, but you do not have to have it to check out. As long as you know your student ID number, you will be allowed to check out books from the library.
May I check out materials for a friend? This is NOT a good idea! You are responsible for everything checked out under your ID number.
How many items may I check out? You may have 2 items checked out at any time.
May I renew these items? Materials may be renewed if they are not needed by another student.
If a book I want is checked out, may I place a reserve on it? Yes, you may place a hold on a book through the online catalog (Destiny). Search for the book you want, then click on the title. If the book is checked out, scroll down the page and click on "Place Hold." The login is your student ID number and the password is TISD+DOB (mmddyyyy). When the book is returned, we will send you a notice to come and check out the book.
How long may I keep materials? Books from the regular collection may be checked out for 2 weeks.
Does the library charge fines? Yes - books that are deemed lost will have a replacement fee. All fines are waived if a book is turned in undamaged.
How do I know if I have any overdue materials? The circulation program, Destiny, keeps track of your records and the library clerk sends notices of fines and overdues to your homeroom teacher. You can also stop by the library and have us check for you.
May I use the computers in the library? Yes, the computers in the front of the library are available for student use.
How do I get a student ID or replace a lost ID? Obtain an Student ID Replacement form and have it signed/approved by your counselor or Assistant Principal. Stop by the library with the completed form and ask for a replacement photo ID.
How much does a lost student ID cost? If you have lost your THS student ID, the cost is $5.00 to replace the card. If you are a new student, they are free.
What process do I follow to get my textbooks? The library is no longer in charge of textbooks. Please check with the front desk to ask which Assistant Principal to see regarding textbooks.
Do you have supplies for working on projects? You may buy posterboard for $0.50, index cards (10) for $0.50, and use old magazines for cutting pictures out.
